Hi to everyone on the List: I am fairly new to the list.....have been watching and waiting for a while. Thought it was about time I posted my own interests, in the hope that one, or some, of you may have an interest in my Stallard line. I am researching this surname in/around the Middlesex (U.K.). Unfortunately at this stage I do not have much information on this line. My Gt. Grandmother was Maria STALLARD. She was born circa 1872 in Islington, the daughter of (I think) George STALLARD. At this stage I don't know her mother's name. Maria STALLARD married my Gt. Grandfather, William Lewis SMITH in 1889 at West Ham and she died in 1920 in West Ham. Unfortunately, that is all I know to date. I think I have correctly located Maria and her family on the 1881 census. If I have the correct Maria (ages match), it shows her siblings as William, Mary A., James, Louisa, Charles and Martha, with their mother being Elizabeth STALLARD. Hi Guys, I have a Walter Stallard descended Stallard line at generation 7 in Virginia, with my line ending up, or actually jumping from Virgina to California. I'm interested in exploring when the "mixed" roots first came in and continued to come in and also if they were possibly present in England. There's a lot of debate as to where the "mixed" roots first began. Just one of many projects as I'm sure you can identify with. I'll find the Stallard author's address and can probably get a phone number for her. I understand she is putting together an updated version. I'll also try to obtain a list of libraries the current book is available at. I'll try to do that by next week (and maybe much sooner) and post it here for anyone who is interested. Does anyone have a copy of Walter Stallard's indenture? My Stallard ancestors, as far as I can find at this time came from Wrington, Somerset. I do know that one family of Stallards in the Trenton area of Nova Scotia have ancestors from Portsmouth. I met Sidney Stallard, Sr. back in the late 1980's and he showed me his Stallard family tree that went back to the early 1800's in the Portsmouth area.
