Have you thought to look for a will for father William. If he was a Farmer there is a chance he may have made one which hopefully would name his children thus confirming his relationship with your George. Father William was stated as a FARMER In the 1841 Census, there is a William Walker and Hannah who live very close to George and Hannah. I feel that this William and Hannah are the parents of my George but I have no baptism record to prove this. His age taken from his marriage cert brings him to c1795. Hi Janet How do I look for a will. Do I have to get in touch with Lichfield Archives and ask them to do a search. Julie
It could prove expensive - have a look on their website for their charges. Also do you know when William died? It is probably between 1841 and 1851 as I can't see him in the 1851 census but that is still a 10 year period for the Archives staff to search and he may not have left a will anyway. I think it is more than likely that your George is the son of William & Hannah but the difficulty is finding his baptism. I still think I would go down the avenue of looking through the actual parish records of Uttoxeter. After all, IGI Family Search entries are only transcriptions and George's baptism may well have been missed. George himself left a will. Ancestry's National Probate Calendar shows that he died 14 January 1866 at Beamhurst and that his will was proved 9 May 1866 at Lichfield and his Executor was his son Richard, Farmer of Stramshall. Perhaps if you obtained his will it may just mention some of his siblings. You have to apply to Leeds and you can download the appropriate form from www.courtservice.gov.uk Janet -----Original Message----- From: Stephen Saw Sent: Monday, November 26, 2012 9:17 AM To: staffordshire@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [STAFFORDSHIRE] Parish Records Hi Janet How do I look for a will.
