    3. Hi Janet Thank you for that. On the marriage Certificate for George Walker and Hannah it states his father is William. Regards Julie -----Original Message----- From: staffordshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:staffordshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Janet Booth Sent: Friday, 23 November 2012 6:36 PM To: staffordshire@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [STAFFORDSHIRE] Parish Records Julie, Genuki website shows that both Creighton & Stramshall are hamlets in the parish of Uttoxeter. It looks as if at least one and perhaps another - although both George and Hannah would have been very young - of George & Hannah's children were baptised at Uttoxeter (source Hugh Waliis's IGI site): 10 October 1813 Ann daughter of George & Hannah WALKER 13 May 1840 James son of George & Hannah WALKER buried 13 September 1842 The parish church of Stramshall was only built between 1850 and 1852 (source Wikipedia), so would not be relevant as a baptismal place to George and his family. Have you found George & Hannah's marriage record? According to the 1851 census, Hannah was born in Wills Lock, which apparently is a small hamlet near to Loxley which in itself is a liberty in the parish of Uttoxeter. All indications seem to point towards the parish of Uttoxeter, so I think I would concentrate my search there to start off with. Good luck Janet Not sure why you're not getting results on Family Search. Must be your input criteria. If you search for births of George Walker 1790-1800 in Staffordshire, you initially get 300+ results. Most of these are later census records. Go to the bottom left and filter results by collections. If you restrict to births and christenings there are only 16 records. If you look at them carefully, you find many are duplicated. There are probably only about 8 actual individuals. I'd then check for locations closer to Creighton. You could the repeat the procedure for James and see if you find a match on parents and parishes. 3. Hi Julie, Family Search extracted baptisms at Uttoxeter show both a William & Hannah WALKER and a William & Elizabeth WALKER have children baptised within the timescale of your George's birth date but unfortunately not one for George. You could make a Family Tree for both sets of parents and see if there is a suitable gap for him to have been baptised either at Uttoxeter and missing from the IGI or elsewhere in the vicinity. You say you have the marriage certificate for George & Hannah and that his father's name is shown as William. However, according to the 1851 census, his children were all born before registration began. Was he married twice perhaps and his second marriage after registration began? If so, what was the occupation of his father on George's marriage certificate as that may help us to trace his father via other records. Janet On the marriage Certificate for George Walker and Hannah it states his father is William.

    3. Hi Janet Yes he was married twice. Father William was stated as a FARMER In the 1841 Census, there is a William Walker and Hannah who live very close to George and Hannah. I feel that this William and Hannah are the parents of my George but I have no baptism record to prove this. His age taken from his marriage cert brings him to c1795. Julie
