    1. Re: [STAFFORDSHIRE] BMD why can't I find a match
    2. Thanks for your reply Peter, I have done all of this - I'm doing a one name study and have covered just about everything already. I wonder if he was actually Henry Bevington or Babington Bebbington etc. I have a database of names associated with Bevington and usually if I can find the spouse name I can track down the Bevington. Thanks anyway... Try and find your Henry Bevington in1901 or 1911 and get his wife's name. Then go back to Kings Norton marriage in Sep 1895 and search for her by given name alone. 3. Hi Sandra Why not contact Birmingham Register Office who hold the registers for Kings Norton RD. They have a resident genealogist to make sure people get the correct certificate and have phoned me up to ask if I had any additional information. He also comes out and gives talk on his job and register office procedures in general. Phone and ask if they have a marriage for Henry Bevington in Sep Q 1895 as you can't find a wife or any other entries on the GRO page 6c 632a. (he says they use freeBMD etc. to aid them in their searches http://tinyurl.com/65uhacf ) Mike Fisher in Droitwich my family tree http://mjfisher.tribalpages.com On 26/10/2012 09:08, sandra.bev@talktalk.net wrote: > > > Thanks for your reply Peter, > I have done all of this - I'm doing a one name study and have covered just about everything already. 2. Mike, That's an interesting development but surely if we can't find them in the GRO indexes they won't? They should however have their own indexes which we are legally entitled to go in and view with an appointment Rob Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device -----Original Message----- From: Mike in Droitwich <mjflists@yahoo.co.uk> Sender: staffordshire-bounces@rootsweb.com Date: Fri, 26 Oct 2012 10:24:54 To: <staffordshire@rootsweb.com> Reply-To: mjflists@yahoo.co.uk, staffordshire@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [STAFFORDSHIRE] BMD why can't I find a match Hi Sandra Why not contact Birmingham Register Office who hold the registers for Kings Norton RD. 3. Rob What you need to understand is that GRO indexes are compiled from LOCAL Registrars Indexes sent to the GRO every quarter. LOCAL Registrars Indexes are the PRIMARY source info. Many GRO entries are incorrect due to errors made during transcription and sometimes some entries in the Local Registers have been missed off the GRO Indexes altogether. ALSO ... Sometimes the LOCAL Registrars indexes can be incorrect due to transcription errors or even missed off completely. I know that when we compiled the LEEK Registrars Index (www.staffordshirebmd.org.uk ) for the UKBMD Project ( www.ukbmd.org.uk ) 48 "JOHNSON" entries had been missed off the Local Registrars Indexes completely .... Hope this helps !
