Hello List I am trying to find the marriage of a Charles Clarke to a Theodosia Cotterel in about 1815. Theodosia was born in Staffordshire in 1789, Charles was fro Congleton in Cheshire. They had children in Congleton. Its a bit of a long shot that they got married in Staffordshire. Any help would be appreciated. John, I've just posted a reply on Yorksgen to your question about using the new IGI site. Try some of those suggestions. I'm not sure of the coverage of old Parish Records for Staffordshire on IGI. You can never be certain that all records have been a captured. I found a possible 1789 baptism for Theodosia Cotterel who looks like an illegitimate daughter of Mary Cotterel. I couldn't find a match for the marriage using the exact names given by you so I tried a variety of combinations. You'll need to do this yourself. There were Clarke / Cotterell marriages in Lancashire and Cheshire but bride's given name is wrong. So I left off her surname and found an 1813 marriage in Essex between Charles Crofs Clarke and Theodosia Purfect. Is it's possible she changed her name, or did Mary marry a Mr Perfect and she is using the name of her step father? I can find no birth for Thesodia Purfect. Peter
