    3. Debbie, I live in Repton and am involved with the Village History Group. I suspect you are looking for Danesgate - maybe a modern corruption of Damsgate. Sadly I have deleted your original enquiry, but we can provide maps of various ages and so on. Danesgate is really an area of Repton on a hill on the northern side of Well lane (if you have access to a modern map). The land rises on both sides of Well Lane which itself runs uphill. So there is a distinct hill. Danesgate is the name of a rather lovely house - mostly Victorian now - on that hillside and the home of The Auden family. 3. Debbie, Further research with censuses and a bit of deduction strongly suggests that there was a Damsgate Hill in Repton and that it has now become Boot Hill or, perhaps, Brook End and Boot Hill combined. The early Priory Mill was fed by Repton Brook which was subsequently redirected to its current course farther away from Boot Hill, but speculation suggests that the Dam in Damsgate might refer to the Mill. The principal building there is the Boot Inn which has had many uses over the years including a boot and shoe makers - generally assumed to be the cause of the name of the road. When it changed is uncertain.
