Hi Keith, They may have arrived in Canada through Quebec or Halifax, Nova Scotia. This link has images of passenger lists so you have to browse through images instead of an easy search. http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/passenger/index-e.html Hope this helps, Jane Herring Cove, NS -----Original Message----- From: Keith & Merle Hackney Sent: Thursday, August 30, 2012 1:00 AM To: staffordshire@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [STAFFORDSHIRE] richard thomas ellis (1884 - 1916) Hi, would any of our Canadian listers be able to identify an address from the 1916 census entry details please? Township: 24 Province: Alberta District: 34 Calgary East (possibly Forest Lawn) Sub district: 04 Enumeration District: 24 Family number: 99 Page:8 Names: R T Ellis, Mabel Ellis, Thomas Ellis. The information also states that Richard immigrated in 1911, his wife Mabel in 1912. I am trying to find their marriage, as they were both single in the UK 1911 census. I cannot find it in the FREEBMD indices either, so I don't know whether they married in Alberta or Staffs. Their only child was 2 in the 1916 census. Richard was KIA in September 1916. I would appreciate an indication as to where I can look up their immigration details, they don't appear to be on the Ellis Island site. They would probably have left England from Liverpool. Thanks very much, Keith NZ ****************************** ATTENTION TO ALL:- When replying please remove the details that do not apply to your mail and change the SUBJECT LINE for best useage of ARCHIVED MATERIALS. ****************************** PLEASE keep your Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware software up to date. My grateful thanks to Jane, Ellen, Bill, Jackie and Helen for your replies to my request, also to Theresa for the location of Forest Lawn. I have two Mabels, and two Richards suggested. I am of the opinion that the Richard T on the Corsican is the correct one, and that the married Mabel Ellis on the Empress of Britain is the most likely one, as her age is correct. Had the age been correct I would have picked the Mabel on the Lake Champlain. However, I am confused, because Richard was single on the 1911 census, and when he arrived in Quebec, and there were only 17 days between the census and his departure! I suppose he could have returned to be married???? The plot thickens!! Many thanks for your help. Confused Keith in NZ
