    3. John - You know that Sarah Hannah / Amy was alive in 1901. Freebmd allows you to put in a start date for the search without specifying an end date, so with a start date of April-June 1901, and no end date, all the records from then on will be searched. You can also specify the county in order to cut down the possible number of hits. If you know her birth date, then you can eliminate any hits that show the wrong age (allowing for possible small discrepancies, whether deliberate or accidental). I would specify the county rather than the registration district, because it covers a greater area, and will allow for her having moved her home by a relatively short distance. Hope this helps, Graham On 02/08/2012 03:33, John Maddocks wrote: > Hello All > II am having some difficulty in understanding Free B M D ,my problem is that I am trying to find a death date without knowing the death period ie we are searching for the death of Sarah Hannah or Amy Collins nee Frith mwe know that she was living in 1901 and possibly alive on the occasion of the marriage of one of daughters on April 25th 1918 the wedding took place in the county of Birmingham ,district Kings Norton .her husband Walter Harry Gollins was listed as deceased on the wedding cert, but of course there is no mention of state of the Brides mother ,however the daughter ,s birth was registeredin the county of Stafford ,distric of Harbourne?,we are not sure where Kings Norton is . > Can we we do a blanket search for a stated term ? any help would be much appreciated . > John Maddocks New Zealand > ****************************** > ATTENTION TO ALL:- When replying please remove the details that do not apply to your mail and change the SUBJECT LINE for best useage of ARCHIVED MATERIALS. > ****************************** > PLEASE keep your Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware software up to date. 1. [STAFFORDSHIRE] Joseph MAYER and Mary A McGRATH
    2. Anne Peat
    3. I am trying to establish whether the Joseph Mayer who married Mary A McGrath in a civil marriage in Wolstanton in September quarter 1911, is the Joseph MAYER who is the nephew of my great grandmother Martha MAYER who married Joseph KKISEY. This Joseph is the son of Joseph MAYER a farmer married to Mary Elizabeth BOSSON or BOSSEN in 1882 in Christ Church Hilderstone. Their families farmed neighbouring farms in Hilderstone. Mary died in June 1885, and Joseph MAYER senior then remarried to Hannah Mari Whitney, and had 7 children. Joseph MAYER junior spent most of his early life, as far as I can see with his childless aunt Mary JOYNSON ( nee MAYER) in Wolstanton. He worked as a watch and clockmaker and jeweller. I'd be grateful if anyone can confirm this marriage ( or tell me I've got the wrong Joseph MAYER so I can look for another marriage for him!) Thanks Anne (nee KINSEY)
