Huge recommendation from me as well. I have this book and it is a great resource and a labour of love. It's also why I know about the history of Sparrow Lee Farm, how Ralph Whielden whose mother inherited Sparrow Lee in 1779, mortgaged the farm to Samuel Hudson and defaulted on his payments so that Samuel took over the farm for his son, also called Samuel, for him to live there after 1808. Ralph had various properties including a newly built farm at Calton Moor and doesn't appear to have lived at Sparrow Lee. The missing link is who tenanted the property around 1787 when Hannah (surname unknown) was born there. Her daughter by Thomas Barks, Eliza, later married young Samuel's son, also called Samuel. If anyone has family in Waterfall I would grab this excellent book while you can.
