Hi everyone, Re recent postings re Ann Baker, many thanks for suggestions regarding the above from Linda and Peter also others who wrote privately to me already thanked.. With regards to Linda's suggestion, no, I hadn't thought about non conformist baptisms. I didn't think there were any in Penkridge because the Methodist Church was not built until I was three years old. I can just remember it being built. Before that time I have always understood that everyone except Catholics were baptised at St. Michael and All Angels Church. Also at that time except for the Infants School all schools were Church of England endowed by Lord Hatherton. I agree with you Peter that Ann was illegitimate, and I have also presumed that one of her Grandparents children was her parent but I have been unable to confirm this. Just for information there was at that time no RC Church at Penkridge either, the nearest one being at Brewood. Thanks again. Margaret Felthouse.
