    3. Lilian Remember .... the 1861 census was taken over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and families went to visit their kin at this time so ... you may find them away from home in this census. Regarding "MEDDING" family I have one link on my tree ... check out my online tree for details ... URL below. A daughter Mary also had a son James (no father given) 1866, Abersychan/Pontypool. They had other children, the youngest being Leah born 1851. 1871 census they had moved to the Stoke on Trent area, and remained there. Catherine died in 1888 and Daniel in 1895, they are buried in Hanley Cemetery. However, I can find no record of Daniel on the 1891 census. 1881 - Leah is married to William Banner and is also living in the Stoke on Trent area, as William was born in West Bromwich I have looked there in case they were visiting his relatives, but again I haven't been able to find them. 1881 JOHN AND EMMA MEDDINGS and their children - John was born Bridgnorth, Shropshire 1840 and Emma in Wolverhampton 1839 but moved to Stoke on Trent area middle/late 1870's with their older children who were all born in Wolverhampton. However, their daughter Jane born 1874 and my grandfather John Henry born 1877 were born in Stoke on Trent. I have looked in Wolverhampton in case this family were visiting relatives. I know that the Medddings name has been written in various ways - i.e., Middins/Meddin/Meadin, and probably others, I have tried all of them. I would appreciate any help at all on these queries, my thanks in advance. 1. [STAFFORDSHIRE] Easter 1861 - was Re: Brickwalls - Bassett/Meddings

    3. Bill I hate to question such a reliable source, but are you sure? Various sources suggest the date for Easter 1861 as March 31st and the census date as April 7th. I don't think many folks would get the week as holiday. Sorry for the delay - been on a fortnight's holiday - how times have changed! Best Wishes, Andy.
