    3. Thanks for your help so far. Just a bit mpre so you know where I am coming from. I have found James GOSS birth reg in Uttoxeter, father Thomas GOSS mother Sarah no surname listed. I also have found census,1871 and 1881 married with his own family he immigrated to Canada 1882-3 I have not been able to find a Staffordshire census with Thomas, Sarah and James together and I don't know which direction to go next. James was a game keeper amd it is said that his father was as well, I have no proof on the father but I do with James as he is listed as such on the census. Thanks again. 3. Theresa Looking at the Occupations of both the GOSS men (ie Gamekeepers) would suggest being employed by the Gentry. The biggest Gentry Family in the area was the Dukes of Sutherland. I do know that Staffs County Archives have recently purchased all the Dukes of Sutherland papers regarding their estates and they have just finished cataloguing them, so probably you may find reference to your GOSS families in there. http://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/leisure/archives/contact/sro/Records/home.as px If they were employed by them they would probably been moved around the country on their various estates so you may find the marriage etc somewhere else ( big estate in Scotland besides that of the one in Staffs) Regards Bill -----Original Message----- From: staffordshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:staffordshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Theresa Goss Sent: 31 March 2012 21:21 To: staffordshire@rootsweb.com Subject: [STAFFORDSHIRE] Marriage Thanks for your help so far.
