Hi Lin/Michael, " ... just the date and address, cause of death and the person who registered the death, not a lot of information to be found on UK Death Certificates." Lin, please forgive my pedantry, but I feel it just might be important to point out that Scottish death certificates do in fact contain a wealth of detail not found in the English version. They mention who the deceased was married to (or if they were single or widowed), their occupation, and - ta raaa! - the names and occupations of both parents! The informant's name and address is also given, along with their relationship to the deceased. I know this may not be relevant at the moment Michael, but you never know when you might have to follow a trail north of the border - my Stoke ancestors relocated to the Fife potteries, settled and raised a family there. Happy hunting! Marie.
Same goes for most of the Australian states - Victorian ones copied the Scottish version and these days, they have I think MORE info than the Scottish ones which have deleted a couple of bits the Vic ones have not. Oh that's interesting Marie, not done any research there myself, my Ancestors are mainly from the Black Country which is mostly in Staffs, and my Father's family were from Somerset. All makes the world a smaller place doesn't it. Best Wishes from Linda.
