I am lucky in that I have both ancestry and findmypast so if I don't find something on one it is often on the other. Nuala
Hi All - I transcribe Hanley Registrars BMD records for StaffsBMD and am after a favour from some kind person who might be going the Hanley or Stafford Archives in the near future. Today I have found a problem in the registrars copy of the Marriage at Bucknall St Marys , Book 1. Page 235 and 236 is missing - thats entries No 469 to 472 inclusive. If anyone is going to the archives could they have a look at the microfiche for pages 235/236 entries No 469 to 472 and tell me if anything is on them ? If you could note down which pair married on each entry that would be a bonus. Once I have the info on the missing entries I will get the registrars to insert a sheet advising that certs from those pages should be requested from Southport - A better solution than the registrar saying they have no record of the marriages. I personally suspect that the entries in the church copy on Microfiche are cancelled entries as there is no mention in the registrars index of who is on those pages - Very strange. I cant get to the archives until end of June - hence this request. Thanks in advance Steve StaffsBMD transcriber
Steve, Did you get anyone to get you the information you required? If not I may be going in tomorrow, but if not will surely go in over the next couple of weeks. I have a copy of a mid-19th century will which includes the expression "… but if in the case my said wife shall form any illicit or immoral connexion … then such annuity absolutely to cease". I wondered if this expression was in common usage or if anything should be read between the lines? John Bennett
