Hi Peter and all I have checked the 1871 and Joseph is still alive and they are living at Essington. Minnie was born at Brieley Hill and William was born at Bloxwich. I have checked both areas and no marriages. Both Joseph Jones and Hugh Hughes were miners so no help there and as for the 1911, as Hugh died in 1904 the 1911 doesn't give a length of marriage, although Caroline is down as a widow.. I have checked, Essington and Bushbury parish registers for a marriage but none found. I am really running out of ideas here. Given the strange circumstances surounding his death (a coroner listed it as natural causes and no violence) I sort of get the feeling that she may not have stayed with him had they not been married. Only conjecture though. Any other ideas out there I would be very glad to here them. In the mean time thank you all for your ideas. Thanks Jane
