    3. Hi Sandra, have a picture of the Wesleyan Chapel in Newcastle under Lyme (?? Lower Street??) . It appears to be large and quite fancy, so I suspect there would have been a local Minister permanently there. This is where my grandparents were married (according to their marriage certificate).in 1892.The Chapel was apparently built in 1799 and demolished around 1960 . I have never heard of baptism being an 'in favour/out of favour' thing, but always understood it was considered very important to baptise children as soon as possible after their birth, in case they died without having been accepted into their Church! Not having had a Chapel upbringing (I was C of E) I really don't know much about it.
