    3. Laurie, My grandfather was a ships' carpenter, he signed on and that was in 1910. Got here to Australia. He told me by the time they had been at sea a few days the meat had maggots in it. I said, what did you do? He said, we ate it, there was nothing else. Maybe picked out the maggots first one hopes? He built a house here and when it was finished sent for grandma. My mother was born 9 months after she landed in Brisbane. Guess the second thing he took off was his hat? Robyn Shaw.
