I think they could be the family in the 1901 Scotland Census in Dalziel in Lanarkshire - John James, aged 33, born England, occupation: under roller at steel mill, wife Mary aged 31, children: Inez, 14; Elsie, 8; Freda, 6; John, 4; Gladys, 3; Reny, 1. The ages of John and Mary are a little out, but the occupation and daughter Inez look like a match. According to FreeBMD there was only one Inez James born in England in the 1860s.
