Hi Andy, Great I now think, thanks to Althea, that Diana was the child of John James 2nd marriage to Sara Tomlinson. Althea pointed out what I missed that Diana in the 1891 census says she was a sister of William Tomlinson whose house they were staying at in Derby. I did find a marriage of a Diana James to Frederick Bate in 1900 at Runcorn Cheshire the rest of the marriages were in Wales but as yet haven't found them on the 1901 census Many thanks for all your help.
