Hi Andy, Tried that on exact but no Dinah or Diana comes up being born at Langley Mill Derbyshire drat Just tells me there is none. Looks like Dinah probably had another name just to confuse me I did find a birth for Diana James 1873 at Basford which apparently is between Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. No Dinah that struck a chord though Is Basford near Langley Mill at all? She uses Diana in the 1891 census at Derby while with her stepmother Sarah Many thanks for your input. It is greatly appreciated as I do find Ancestry rather frustrating Cheers Marilyn from Western Australia At 02:54 PM 19/04/2012, you wrote: >Could it be Langley Mill not Landley Mill. >Andy > >At 04:49 19/04/2012, you wrote: > >Hi List, > > Sorry for the confusion .I must have worded that email cockeyed. Hi Marilyn Basford RD will cover parts if not all of Langley Mill. I'm fairly sure your Diana/Dinah is the one registered born Basford RD DecQ 1873 7b/111 Spellings aren't totally reliable - Dinah and Diana are pretty close when spoken in a Langley Mill accent. Nor are dates - so born 1873 is exact for the 1881 census, and close enough for 1891. HTH Andy.
