Hmmm... My wife and I were married in 1971, and went out to South Africa a few days later, for two years. My new father-in-law was the Rector of the church in which we were wed by someone else. It was father-in-law who filled in the forms. It was only a year or more later that my wife actually looked closely at the marriage certificate, and found that he had put my name down as Robert, not Robin. We laughed about it, and told him. He took it very seriously, as "no laughing matter", and issued us with a new certificate - on which he had forged the signatures of all the witnesses ! We have both documents for posterity ;-)
