    3. I did take a quick look, and there was only 1 Nettie Collins, age 18 coming with her family to join her father and going to Toronto ... don't think this is yours! 3. John, You don't need ship or port of arrival. Just use England to Canada 1905 +/- 5 years. I'd also try Find My Past for People Leaving UK. You can do the basic search for Free then try to match up the dates etc and get fuller details via Ancestry. Peter

    2. Barbara Gray
    3. Hi all After months of computer problems, FreeReg is now being updated regularly, and thousands of records including Staffordshire ones have been added. Unlike some Register sites, they do not stop at 1837. If you haven't checked it for a while its worth another look. Hope it helps Regards Barbara Volunteer transcriber [for Staffordshire].

    3. Janet, Another great find. Easy when you see how. As simple as using only Jasper with wife Ann*. But you can't blame the enumerator or the transcription for the error. It's clearly Kilvert written in Jasper's own hand. Peter

    3. Pauline, I think they have been enumerated as KILVERT: New Town Street, Old Hill, Dudley KILVERT Jasper Head 41 Married Chain Making Dudley Worcester do Anne Wife 38 do do Rowley Staffs do Ethelbert Son 19 Single do Dudley Worcester do Hubert Son 14 Single At School do do do Stanley Son 13 do do do do do Garnet? Son 10 do do do do do Ethel Daughter 7 do Rowley Staffs do Kenneth Son 1 do do BILLINGHAM Alfred Boarder 20 Single Chain Maker do do Jasper and Anne are shown as having been married 20 years having had 8 children, 6 of whom are still alive. Janet The BILLINGHAM family that Ann Beatrice and Alice belong to are from Rowley Regis. Their parents were Jeremiah BILLINGHAM and Isabella TROMANS. My main query was where to look for Ann as I can't find her or her family on 1911 census the rest of this family I can account for. I have also looked on Find My Past at the shipping records to no avail. Alice was my husband's g/mother.

    3. Hi Denise This is really exciting, can you tell me where you found the marriage as I couldn't see it on Ancestry. You may have also solved another long standing niggle. Growing up there was a Mr & Mrs Tams who lived across the road from us and were somehow related to us and to Annie's son Ken Bradbury but I could never work out how. I never knew Mr & Mrs Tam's first name at the time, but checking the electoral register a while ago he was James - I was hoping he was Leonard as I had one of those. I need to find my notes to check the name of his wife, but it could well be them, so if so a big thank you for solving another problem. It also shows the advantages of researching all lines [well that's my excuse] Regards Barbara On 9 September 2012 19:16, Denise <cinderhill971@btinternet.com> wrote: > Hi Barbara, > Just looked on ancestry for George Thomas Bradbury but cannot find them on the 1911 census, but there is a copy of a marrage certificate which maybe George's sister Eliza Annie Bradbury daughter of Thomas E Bradbury of 34 Albion Street Longton on the 3 November 1912 to James Sparks at Longton, one daughter second marriage to James A Tams 1916 4 sons and 2 more daughters. > Denise > > > ________________________________ > From: Barbara Gray <barbarajgray8@gmail.com> > To: staffordshire@rootsweb.com > Sent: Sunday, 9 September 2012, 18:40 > Subject: Re: [STAFFORDSHIRE] BRADBURY > > Hi Phil > I did see that entry, so maybe I will be digging into the Bradbury > family a little more, though I didn't find a brother William for > Thomas Edward. > Still no one said it had to be easy! > Regards > Barbara > > On 9 September 2012 18:23, Phil Davis <philmax.davis@virgin.net> wrote: >> Barbara.... >> >> You might want to dig a little into the family living at 10 Cooke St. >> Longton at the time of the 1911 census. I'm trying to find George Thomas BRADBURY born 1901 in Longton, Stoke on Trent, son of Thomas Edward BRADBURY and his wife Emma nee CHEADLE. In 1901 they were at 14 Arthur Street, Edensor, Longton being: Thomas age 39, potters placer born Longton Emma age 42 born Longton John T C age 17 potter ?, born Longton Charles Edward age 15 potter ? born Longton Eliza Ann age 14 born Meir [Caverswall] Emma age 10 born Meir [Caverswall] Stephen age 9 born Longton William age 5 born Longton George Thomas age 2 months, born Longton. George Thomas married Annie Elizabeth SHARP in 1926 at St James, Longton she was my mother's half sister. These families didnt move far, so I would expect them to be in the Longton area somewhere, but I have tried every variation of names and surnames and widened the search to different areas with no success. The mother Emma may have died in 1907, any help much appreciated.
