    3. Hi Gwyneth, re: "I am wondering if anyone can date this please. There are 3 pages of people in Tamworth, so if anyone would like me to check for their ancestors please let me know." Isaac Slater published Directories of Staffordshire in 1850 & 1863 He also published in 1852 'Slater's Classified Directory of the Manufacturing District Fifteen Miles around Birmingham, including Worcester and the Potteries' which includes many Staffordshire towns. I compiled a (hopefully) complete list of Staffordshire directories on GENUKI at: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/STS/Dir/index.html If anyone spots one I've missed please let me know. (Directories specific to individual towns are listed on the relevent parish pages) Cheers Mike -- Maintainer of the Staffordshire GENUKI pages at http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/STS/index.html Willenhall Indexes and Staffs look Up Exchange at http://freespace.virgin.net/willen.hall/index.html

    3. All, the following has been posted on the CWGC web site:- Appeal for Next Of Kin of British POW whose grave has been found in Poland 10 October 2012 The CWGC is seeking to contact the next of kin of Henry Alexander Thomson, one of two British POWs who were buried in Popielow Cemetery in Poland. Lance Corporal John Thomas Saunders of the 1st Bn. The Tyneside Scottish Black Watch and Trooper Thomson of the 1st Lothians and Border Horse were both being held at Lamsdorf POW camp in 1944. On the 21 July they were shot and killed by a guard while they were among a group of prisoners working in the forest near the camp. The two men have been commemorated on the Dunkirk Memorial, but it has now been established that they are buried in the cemetery in Popielow in western Poland, and headstones are to be erected over their graves. Relatives can contact the CWGC at: Commonwealth War Graves Commission 2 Marlow Road Maidenhead Berkshire SL6 7DX United Kingdom Tel: +44 (0) 1628 507200 Email: casualty.enq@cwgc.org Regards, Eric

    3. Hi Gwyneth, oh sorry forgot to add the date of the Marriage, the 24th Nov 1823 St Etheldreda Tamworth, same Church as Elizabeth's burial. Yes there is some information on line for St Etheldreda, just use Google, but there doesn't seem to be any on line Parish Records that I can see. I also think that Elizabeth died in childbirth, how sad only 31 years old. Would also think that Joseph's father was a William, being as he was the oldest son. Hopwas had it's own Church, St Chads built in 1836, don't know if any of your family are recorded there or not? Here are some pictures of the Church and the Village:- http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=st+chads+church+hopwas+tamworth&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=_Gd2UNXCAqil0QXah4DgCg&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1014&bih=631 HTH Linda.

    3. Hi Gwyneth, I went to the Archives today and looked up the Marriage of Joseph Hastilow and Elizabeth Clewley, didn't say much unfortunately, just that they were both of the Parish, by Banns, both signed their names, the Witnesses aren't much help, a Mary Cotton and a Joseph (looked like Keen?) No Hastilows or Clewleys. But I did find Elizabeth's Burial as follows:- Elizabeth Wife of Joseph Hastilow of Hopwas. Buried at St Etheldreda Tamworth on the 5.12.1831 aged 31. HTH Linda.

    2. Have you tried burial/MI records in the area for Elizabeth Hastilow died 1829-1832? It may list her age which may help narrow the field of possible christenings, or better yet, it may state her age and confirm that she was the wife of Joseph. 2. Peter R Booth
    3. Pam, I think you may get better results by doing a bit of research. A quick look on Ancestry shows only two Faram / Elizabeth marriages between 1930-1990 and both are quite late, suggesting possibly a second marriage. Quickly looking at Staffordshire, I feel Elizabeth Hill married Alfred J Whieldon in 1937 and then in 1976 married Peter Faram. But it needs a lot of checking. Peter
