Have tried to fathom what Rough Close was like in mid seventeen hundreds but information limited. Looking for Job and Mary Downing who were buried in Stone but were from Rough Close. Any information would be welcome. Thankyou Helen

I had hoped to find further information about the Woolley family and, indeed there is quite a lot of information about them over and above the Familysearch results. However I can't find the marriage of Robert Woolley and Mary Mellor in April 1767, which I had earlier found in Familysearch. I know Familysearch has its limitations, especially submitted information but in this case there is an Index Project number - M03216-3 and a source number - 1278803. These are the same numbers as for the marriage of John Woolley and his bride Mary Grindley on the 17th of October 1763 which I have found on the Transcripts exactly as on Familysearch. I would be inclined to think that Familysearch somehow got it wrong for Robert and Mary but the Transcripts do show the birth of a daughter, Elizabeth, to them in Alton in August 1768. I would appreciate some thoughts. Familysearch derive their data from the Bishops Transcripts. SPRS derive their data from the original Parish Register. The BTs are supposed to be exact copies of the PR - however, you often something included in one but not the other!
