Hi List, first time member of this List. I would like to pose a question if I may please? I have two people who were allegedly born in Sri Lanka/Ceylon. A, Kingsley Vernon OORLOFF some time before 1900, the son of Charles Joseph and Louisa Wilhilmina De La HARPE. B, Aidlin Beatrice Maud CLASSEN, born 25 March 1897, daughter of James Gerald and Aidlin Maud SCHOKMAN, both parents possibly of Dutch descent. I have no idea of whether there are records centres situated within Sri Lanka, or whether they would have been within their parents embassy records for birth abroad. Mick I've found some names of possible interest to you in the Times of Ceylon Green Book 1932 which provides the list of inhabitants of Ceylon and other statistical information for 1931. I know no more about each individual. I gave the Schokman information to someone else on the list so you may have another source. With regard to other records, Ceylon did not send records back to the UK as did India so all the records are somewhere in Sri Lanka. The LDS did film many, many records but you have to know the Districts you're interested in and approximate dates. Hi Geoff, Nice to see you pop your head up again... You have given me the information below previously, but despite the fact that I know EXACTLY the date of the marriage and the place, and a Sri Lankan friend here in Australia was able to tell me the Name of the Province and the District. I still had difficulties which I have not yet been able to overcome.
