    3. Dear Rebecca, I don't know if 'my' Pattles ever made it to Brantham; There are various sources including http://www.nikoko.co.uk/index.htm (has a lots of Julia's genealogy)http://webapps.getty.edu/research/conducting_research/finding_aids /cameron_m1.html (the Julia Cameron's papers at the Getty museum) and http://www.dimbola.co.uk/ (the Julia Cameron Trust in the Isle of Wight) which you might want to look at. Also http://orlando.jp.org/VWSGB/dat/vwbiog.html for Virginia Woolf's relation to the Pattle family (her mother was Julia Cameron jr.). I have not researched the Pattle family, because they are quite far from my main line, but there is quite a lot of material available. Good hunt, Jean. You mention Julia Margaret Pattle (later Julia Cameron). This caught my eye as the Pattles were a family of some repute in these parts a century or so ago - at Brantham just over the river in Suffolk there is a whole row of stones of theirs in the churchyard, and a road named Temple Pattle (after one of them) on a housing estate. Any connection -it's an unusual name? Sorry I can't help you with Ceylon: wish I could. Rebecca Kenneison Essex.
