    3. Dear Listers: I am looking for information on Captain Charles William Lewis ROBERTS, who was with the 2nd Ceylon Regiment ("Ramsay's" present on the island from 1802-1821) . He was in Point de Galle in 1808, when his daughter Georgiana was born. However, I think he may also have died there, since the Times death notice of his second daughter Jane Matilda Roberts, published 80 years later, calls him the late Captain Roberts of Point de Galle i.e. no promotion and he never left. Could have retired there though. Otherwise all I have on him is that daughters Nancy Sophia and Jane Matilda were both baptised in Portsmouth in 1802, a sign that the family had been in a posting somewhere else perhaps, and postponed the christenings for a home leave. His wife was called Nancy, otherwise no info. I have a feeling that the Roberts may have come from Dublin/near Dublin, since daughter Georgiana subsequently married there in 1848, and unmarried Jane may have been a governess in the city. I am not sure how to continue. I was hoping that there are church records / official records that could be consulted. Best of all would be army records, but where? And what? Ceylon seems to be a case apart and not included in India records. We do have an LDS branch here. Can anyone give me a push in the right direction? Even advise who I might approach to look into it professionally for me - I live in Germany, so London records are out. Georgina
