Hi Stephen Ceylon was a colony until abt 1948. All BDM's were only recorded in Ceylon. They are difficult to come by.If you were looking for an English person born overseas in a country with diplomatic relations you can look in the UK in the Family Records Centre or online at http://www.findmypast.com/HomeServlet The British Library has some information. They have a few Fergusons Directories but I can't remember which years. They may have other Newspapers as well. Times Digital may have information as well but it is not free. Thanks for your message, Camilla. You write that BMD records are difficult to come by. Do you know of any genealogical researchers in Sri Lanka who might help to find such records? I've looked at the British Overseas death indexes at www.findmypast.com to no avail. all the best, Stephen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Camilla Barlow" <ceebee123@swiftdsl.com.au> To: <srilanka@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 16, 2007 2:01 PM Subject: Re: [SRILANKA] William Small > Hi Stephen > Ceylon was a colony until abt 1948.
