Following the advice given by Anne H. on the Sri Lanka listing I have joined the Bedfordshire Online Library and am able to search the Times Archive myself. However, searching for William Small was completely unsuccessful. I could access the deaths column for the date you've given me and could see the entry quite clearly, so please can you let me know what search criteria you used to return the result you did.
