    3. Hi L&C, Many thanks for the wonderful effort you are exerting in getting these records on to the net for public view. I can help. We need to discuss further the format of the data and in what manner it will be downloaded or transcribed to decide the format for upload and easy access. There are several alternatives available as follows:- 1. Microsoft EXCEL uploaded in html format on to the Sri Lanka Genealogy Website Database similar to the DBU Volume Index that is already available at http://www.rootsweb.com/~lkawgw/dbu/dbuindex.html 2. Google Excel File Format with Public View 3. Plain text HTML format The final ease of output for creating the upload files will depend on what format it is downloaded or available. Another question is the volume of records in order to determine whether they should be maintained in one single file or in a group of files classified by a pre-defined category (alphabetic, locationwise, etc etc) Please let me know and we can work on it together. Our aim is to get the PRIMARY records we have from British Ceylon into a data base on the net,for all to see, for FREE. We are trying for a database that can be viewed by all, and updated by a select few who can get the LDS films and other primary sources to transcribe from. The Hague baptism records need to be fully transcribed and put on the net as they do not appear to be on LDS film. There are 23 microfiche with a number of pages on each fiche, and we only copied pages with interest to our families on them. We hope to go back next year to complete the job. The other source of primary records are Ceylon families scattered all over the world, who have handed them down ( marriage, baptism and birth certificates) by generation to generation. Our problem is we are not computer literate enough to know how to go about it. This is the problem. We are diligent, or lucky enough to find primary records and we want to share them for free, free to us, no postage etc, and free to the British Ceylon researchers through the WEB. We dont expect it to be just our research. Anyone with a verified Primary record could submit their record for inclusion. After the Primary Source List is up and running it would then be nice to make a Secondary research list with thecomplete 1843 Ceylon Directory, which we already offered earlier in the year, the indexes to Tombstones and Monuments in Ceylon, the entries in Lap Zeylandica, the Index of the Officers of the Indian Medical Service and the Index to Cottons, Monuments and Graves in Madras Provence. We just want to share 30 years of accumulated resources and research for FREE....... well just about for free We NEED A MENTOR, with time, patience, and computer skills to tell us what, how and when to do XY&Z !!!!!!
