Inquiry: My mother, Theodora 'Dolly' Smith (nee Nugawela), was born in Kandy on 5th April, 1901 and died in Thetford, Norfolk, England on 5th December 1979. She had an older sister, Felicia 'Tita' Ranabahu (nee Nugawela), and a step sister, Joyce, whose Father was Walter ?. My Grandmother (nee Spencer) was first married to Mr. Nugawela who I was told died around 1905. My Grandmother had two older brothers, Sydney Spencer and Percy Spencer. I have information on the Spencer family. My youngest sister, Beryl Joyce Smith, was born on 20th December 1932 and died in Thetford, Norfolk on 12th December 2002. My eldest sister, Christobelle Theodora Smith, was born on 22nd October 1927 and died in Colombo in 1940. She is buried in Kanatte Cemetery (Methodist Section) and I have always hoped that I could ask someone to find her grave. Aunty Tita attended her funeral. I cannot remember the exact date that Christobelle died; the gravestone would confirm this if it still exists after nearly 70 years. Aunty Tita was married to Sam Ranabahu who had two children called Dudley and Sheila. I wish I could remember my Grandparents' first names and Uncle Walter's (step Grandpa) surname. My family left Ceylon in 1947 on the troopships ss Lancashire and the Empire Trooper. Dudley Ranabahu and I were very interested in aircraft and I wonder what Dudley did; I served in the Royal Air Force before working in the aircraft industry and Manchester University. I hope you can make sense of what I have written as I tend to drift away from the main theme. Thanks, Dr. Morris Smith (UK) Morris Smith <morris.smith@claribel.com > Dec 28 2005: I am trying to find out about my grandmother Felicia 'Tita' Ranabahu. Her maiden name was Nugawela.
