I do not know about the Dutch Reform Church or Baptist Church but here is a thought based on the Church of England. My Great Grandfather was a minister who worked for the Church Missionary Society and was posted to Ceylon. The Church Missionary Society has archived all their data; annual reports and personal data at Birmingham University and I was able to contact the archivist there and get copies for a minimal price.........she even digitally took pictures of the book that held a few of his annual reports. This also included his application to the Missionary Society and letters written on his behalf as reference, and the exam he wrote to enter the school of theology. All in his own hand! My thinking is, if all these records have been kept by the Church of England and archived in England, perhaps the other churches also kept records. I went to the Church of England web site, went to the contact us section and posed my questions. Surely the other churches have web sites: So Dutch Reformed has changed with time but perhaps this history will tell where to look for records, or where they may be archives in Holland: Dutch Reformed Church - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Dutch Reformed Church was the main successor to the congregations which came into ... If you cannot find the one you are looking for, perhaps you can ask one of the other churches that does provide Email contact info to help you make contact with the other church. In most cases I have found the church secretaries are wonderful at helping.......the vicars themselves are often too busy! At least they offer advise as to where one might go for assistance. My relatives were mostly British Civil Servants so I am hoping that BMD were registered in England. Fingers crossed. Hi Jane I am sorry to disappoint you but as "Ceylon" was an English colony the BDM's are in Sri Lanka. Church records are probably a bit easier to access, not much though. The GRO in England only has BDM's when they had diplomatic relations with a country. I was in Sri Lanka in 2005. I found some Church records. I was told they would send me copies. I left self addressed envelope, more money than requested and in spite of 2 letters I am still waiting for my copies. Unfortunately my camera was broken so was unable to take pics.
