    3. I tried the front door policy but not the National Records office as they never answer any Emails, not sure why they even have an Email address! However, if you know the church the family belonged to, it is possible to find records through this avenue. I contacted the Church of England Bishop of Sri Lanka and had joy with a marriage for my Great Grandparents. Hope this helps Jane, in snowy, cold and windy Ottawa, Ontario, Canada ----- Original Message ----- From: "Margo Mckinstry" <McKinstryMJ@ldschurch.org> To: <SRILANKA@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 05, 2007 1:02 PM Subject: Re: [SRILANKA] Jefferies & O'Brien 1840s > Nancy, > > I have two Ceylon births in 1868 and 1871 because my family was military > (Black Watch). 3. Hello Jane, You're quite right about no replies from the records office in Sri Lanka. Over the past few years I've emailed & also written several 'proper letters' to them, with no response at all. My G Grandfather was born there in 1847/8 [Point de Galle] and I would love to find his birth record in order to find out who his Mother was. My G G Grandfather was a planter, which makes it even more difficult. Would appreciate a contact address for the Bishop if you still have it. Best wishes, Christine Jane wrote - >I tried the front door policy but not the National Records office as they > never answer any Emails, not sure why they even have an Email address! > However, if you know the church the family belonged to, it is possible to > find records through this avenue.
