    1. [SRILANKA] passenger lists
    2. Larry & Coreen Andresen
    3. Karen, there are a few of lines of enquiry to compensate for lack of passenger lists to Ceylon . We are presuming you are looking at the Engliosh period 1797 to 1848 or later...All persons into the East Indies had to have permission from the Colonial Office. The files are CO 412 / 194, 5 and 6 and are in the British Archives at Kew. There are also passenger lists in the the Indian and Ceylon archived newspapers at Kew and Colindale. There are Embarkation films for ships to India, available from the LDS , But you have to know which ship, or year to get a near miss or hit. Some Australian passenger lists name people embarking in India too and we also had ships from Australia to Ceylon and India, Lachlan McQuarrie and his Regiment, took the port of Galle from the Dutch. He was appointed Governor of Galle and was also a very humane, and mostly forgotten, Governor of Australia. What names and approx year are you looking at ? Coreen and Larry
