    3. Hi David, Thanks for the info. W.E.Rowlands is Reverend Rowlands, known as Padre Rowlands of Ceylon who spent most of his life in charge of the Tamil Coolie Mission that looked after the well being of the tamil coolies brought over from India to work the plantations. Unfortunately, at this stage I cannot find a connection to our family. The marriage details have shortened his wife's name, which was Mary Blackwell EVANS, the daughter of Rev.C.Evans. The funeral details are correct. Regards. Ed. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Kenny" <dakenny@ozemail.com.au> To: <srilanka@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2007 8:11 AM Subject: Re: [SRILANKA] ROWLANDS > Hi > > Not sure if related but found this in the London Times... > > William Edward ROWLANDS, son of William ROWLANDS, esq, of Worcester, > married Mary Blackwell > on the 12 Nov 1863 > > Then > > ROWLANDS. - On Sept 23, 1927, at Lindun, Ferndale, Tunbridge Wells, > WILLIAM > EDWARD ROWLANDS, for 56 years a missionary of the C.M.S. in Ceylon, and > for > 11 years Rector of Bonchurch, I. of W., in his 90th year > Funeral, Bonchurch, Sept 29 > > Regards > > David > Ourimbah, NSW, Australia. > > Ed Rowlands wrote: > >>Hi Georgina, The Rowlands family that we are researching at present >>starts >>with a William Rowlands of the Ceylon Rifle Regiment.
