    3. Hi Roz, If you should come across any Davidson's, Somerville's & McEnery (or McEmerty or similar) I would very much appreciate the info. My Davidson's; James & Isabella (Somerville) & John & Jane (Somerville) arrived at Colombo from Cork in Ireland, onboard the Hooghly, with the 78th Highland Regiment of Foot in 1826. In 1831 James & Isabella were living in Kandy and James was discharged from the Regiment in Aug 1831. They had several children, but the only surviving issue by 1844 were; Martin born abt 1822, Anne 1823, Jane 1831 (my grt grandmother), and Elizabeth 1833. Isabella died in Kandy 8/12/1838 and James was buried Kandy 2/3/1845. Anne married James McEnery (or McEmerty or similar) in 1842 had a daughter Mary Anne in 8/1844. I believe Anne died between 1844 & 1848. Mary Anne may have gone to America. Martin had a natural daughter Sarah (brn bef 1848 & died in Kandy abt 1864) Martin died sometime btwn 1848 & 1864 probably in Badulla. Cousin John William Davidson's wife was living at "Hoskelle" Badulla in 1876 with her sister & brother in law Mr & Mrs R.L Crofton. He was a son of John & Margaret Davidson, brn 1827; another son James brn 1829 at Kandy died in Badulla abt 1875, he had been in India for sometime but I don't have any other info on these cousins or other possible children of John & Jane. My grt grandmother Jane (later married James Nuttall in Aust) & her sister Elizabeth came to Aust in 1848 aboard the Torrington. Jane Nuttall returned to Ceylon in 1864 to sort out matters relating to Martin's will. If you come across any info relating to these people I would much appreciate it. James was noted as a Government Contractor when Jane was born in 1831.
