    3. I have some information on the De Neys or Deneys family, not in Ceylon but on the Coromandel Coast of India, in Sadras. The family is that of Jacob Pieter Deneijs and his wife, Esther Clasina Topander. I was/am researching the Van Someren, Saalfelt, Topander, Duynevelt, Heefke, Terloenen, Eilbracht and Meppen families in both Ceylon and India. Unfortunately I do not speak or read Dutch, so much of the information online is useless to me. Esther Clasina Topander b 6 Nov 1754 died 6 Apr 1780 Sadras married Jacob Pieter De Neys (Deneys) He was Ondercoopman Second en Cassier dessus Comptoirs at Sadras. Their five children were all buried in Sadras between 1775-78. If I come across anything more on the name, I will let you know. 3. If anyone is interested, I have a copy of the Liberation Questionnaire filled out by a Mervyn de Neise (which I can only suppose must be derived from de Neys) from Hubli in SW India (at least, that was the address of his next of kin). He was in the Indian Army and should have been taken prisoner at the fall of Singapore in 1942, but with the help of Eurasians in the Malayan forces, he was taken to Kuala Lumpur and lived out the war amongst that community. He wasn¹t the only one. Probably irrelevant to the original query, but it might fill a gap for someone. 3. Hi Debra, If your ancestor was Dutch then the spelling would be De Neijs. do you know with what ship he arrived in Ceylon and if his name was Johan de Neijs you can find a few with that name on the website of the passengers/personnel of the VOC http://www.gahetna.nl/en/collectie/index/nt00444/view/NT00444_OPVARENDEN you can go to the English version and type in that name. There are many results, so you have to know the place where he originated from. good luck Jennifer On 7 December 2017 at 19:11, DEBRA EWLES <debra.ewles@btinternet.com> wrote: > Hello > Its been awhile since I’ve posted on this site but I hoping some one may > be able to help with any information regarding the De Neys family. > I believe Johanna or Johan De Neys may be my great x 6 grandmother I’m > looking as far back as c1740. > She married Jochem Christofel Salder not sure when but I know they had two > children who we both baptised in 1743 on the same day. > Mattyas Hendrik a son > And Anna Elisabeth a daughter. > I think that the De Neys family were possibly Dutch Burghers. > > Any shred of light would be most welcome as this is a brick wall in my > research. > > Kind regards > Debra > > > Sent from Mail for Windows 10 > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > SRILANKA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Hi.... if you take this link there are lots of entries for Sansoni. Check out the entries and if you find any that are applicable let me know which record set they are located in and perhaps I would be able to help further. There is also a record for Frugtneit in the Colombo Kanatte Cemetery War Deal record as well as another mention of a Sansoni. Unfortunately I cannot help further this this particular record set. http://kabristan.org.uk/ cheers Penny -----Original Message----- From: SRILANKA [mailto:srilanka-bounces+pentop42=bigpond.com@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jeank.stangroom Sent: Friday, 1 December 2017 6:33 PM To: srilanka@rootsweb.com Subject: [SRILANKA] Frugneit Looking for any information of the Frugtneit family particularly children of Arthur Justin Frugtneit and Elaine Sansoni ? 3. Thank you but there are the 2 which I already have . I am looking for Anselm G S Frugtniet and his siblings all born Kandy . Dorothy F S Frugtniet (my mother in law) was the eldest born 1913 . Milan C G Frugtniet buried 1942 was the youngest I think he is the war grave. How much more info would you be able to find ?
