Author: arfitzgerald Surnames: Sprague, Mead Classification: queries Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: I have reached a brick wall in my research of William Sprague, born in Kent, Putnam County, NY around 1790. I believe he was part of the Sprague family whose ancestors emigrated to Mass. in the 1600s. I have been unable to find out the name of his or his wifeâs parents. He was a farmer in Kent, though probably did not own property. He married Huldah Stevens, and they had several children (James, Henry, George, Williamâ¦). I have researched several Sprague genealogies to no avail. Also, several genealogical sites with no results for this particular William. He is mentioned in one of the supplements to the Sprague Families in America series of books, along with his children and wife. I think I have exhausted just about everything I could hope to find on line. I have also been in contact with the historical societies for Kent, Carmel and Putnam County. Was able to verify he was a farmer there. I have also been able to find references to him and his wife in other documents, like one of his sonsâ death certificate. There are several public trees on Ancestry listing John and Parmelia (Mead) Sprague as his parents, but there is no actual source information for the listings, other than other Andestry trees. I also have some census information for William. But the line seems to start and end with him. Any suggestions as to what/where to check next? A trip to NY is no in my cards right now.
