Your candelabra story is probably true as we have a cane given to the family by Martha's daughter. I feel like I've told you this already but I can't see it in this thread (so forgive me if I've said this): the wood is meant to be from a tree at Mount Vernon, the metal from a piece of serving ware (I believe at Mt. Vernon), and on the top, it's adorned with the first dime (?) minted at the US mint. It was a gift from a grown woman to her old tutor. I'd LOVE to get a copy of the information you have and I'd be happy to send my address to you but I think these posts are publicly viewable (although I'm new to this site and don't absolutely know that).
