Sprague, 69, Memphis, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at the Vet's Hospital, Memphis. Services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Memphis. Mr. Sprague was born on April 16, 1933, the son of William Harlan and Hazel Marie Blake Sprague. He grew up in the Muscatine area and attended school in Grandview. He served in the U.S. Army from May 1951 until he was injured in June 1953. He loved to write songs and poetry. Some of his poetry received national recognition. He was also an avid chess player, entering local contests, and often donating his winnings to his favorite charity. Survivors include his wife, a son, four step-children and grandchildren, all of Memphis; two brothers, Paul of Nichols and Louis of Fruitland; and a sister, Patsy Courtney of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother and his grandparents. ================ NICHOLS, Iowa -- Paul R. Sprague, 68, Nichols, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at his home. Memorial services are 1:30 p.m. today at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Ave. The Rev. Daniel Rohr will officiate. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the funeral home. Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Mr. Sprague was born May 30, 1936, in Muscatine, the son of William Harland and Hazel Marie Blake Sprague. He married Mary F. Yeggy Aug. 3, 1961, in West Liberty. He served his country in the 101st Airborne. He worked in construction for Labor Union No. 1238 of Iowa City until retiring. He enjoyed woodworking, pistol shooting with his sons, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul Alan Sprague and wife, Wendy, of Arvada, Colo., and Jeffrey Scott Sprague and wife, Faith, of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Ashley, Tanner, Brayden and Dustin Sprague; a brother, Louis Sprague and wife, Becky, of Muscatine; and a sister, Patsy Courtney of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. ================== MUSCATINE, Iowa - Rebecca L. 'Becky' Westerhoff Sprague, 60, Muscatine, died Friday, May 12, 2006, at her home, after an extended illness. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Unity Care Hospice of Muscatine. Mrs. Sprague was born Nov. 20, 1945, in Iowa City, the daughter of Earl and Violet Fountain Frauenholz. She married Louis S. Sprague on March 17, 1990, in Nichols. She graduated from Louisa-Muscatine High School. For many years she lived in Lone Tree, moving to Muscatine nearly 16 years ago. She enjoyed the outdoors, watching and listening to the birds, riding horses and just being outside with nature. She also enjoyed sewing and embroidering, but most of all, she loved being 'Grandma'. Survivors include her mother, Violet Frauenholz of West Liberty; her husband; children, Terri Hardy and husband Scott of Lone Tree, Mark Westerhoff of North Liberty, Scott Westerhoff and wife Angie of Riverside, Steven Sprague and wife Lenore of Wilton and Kevin Sprague and wife Teresa of Muscatine; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. ================ MUSCATINE, Iowa - Louis Steven Sprague, 70, of Muscatine, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Carrington Place, Muscatine. Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Oakgrove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home. Mr. Sprague was born July 16, 1938, in Letts, the son of Harlan William and Hazel Marie Blake Sprague. On May 26, 1961, he married Linda Sue Cox in Muscatine. He was later united in marriage to Rebecca L. Frauenholtz on March 17, 1990, in Nichols. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked for Doane Pet Care for more than 30 years. Mr. Sprague will be deeply missed by his two sons, Steve (Lenore) Sprague of Wilton and Kevin (Teresa) Sprague of Muscatine; two step-sons, Scott (Angie) Westerhoff of Riverside and Mark Westerhoff of Iowa City; one step-daughter, Teri (Scott) Hardy of Lone Tree; one sister, Patsy Courtney of Muscatine, 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; three brothers, Jack, Paul and Thomas; and two sisters, Joyce and Norma.
