I'm having problems with the parentage of Mary Sprague who married William Hewitt about 1806 in Edinburg, Saratoga County, NY, where they remained for the rest of their lives. Many "trees" state she is the daughter of Obadiah who was born, lived, and died in Providence, RI.  Some say her mother was Mary ??? and a few say it was Sarah???  Obadiah's will lists a daughter named Mary and further states that she was the widow of a Demount.  her tombstone states she was born in 1749 and died in 1790 in RI - none of this matches my Mary who married William Hewitt.  Per the 1850 and 1860 census my Mary was born in 1780 and I know she died in 1868.  Also, per the census, she was born in RI.  Since Obadiah never left RI, how did my Mary end up in Edinburg, NY?  With the above evidence, I would say that my Mary is not the child of Obadiah.  However Obadiah did have a daughter named Mercy that no "trees" had any info on - could this my Mary?  Hopefully some of you can shed some light on this for me. Mrs. Sprague was born July 12, 1918, in Youngstown, Ohio a daughter of Thomas and Estella (Morgan) Roberts. She was raised in Struthers, Ohio and then lived in Poland, Ohio the majority of her life. She was a 1937 graduate of Struthers High School and attended the Youngstown Business College for two years. Mrs. Sprague first worked as a librarian for the Struthers Library for eight years and then as a bank teller for Dollar Savings Bank, retiring in 1984 after 22 years of service. She was a member of the Poland United Methodist Church. Her husband, Gale L. Sprague, whom she married Sept. 4, 1942, died May 30, 2011. She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Williams of Poland and Roberta "Bobbie" Ridel of Columbiana, Ohio; sister, Sarah "Sally" Metzler of Warren, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kristen (Greg) Shepley of Girard, Kelly (Jeff) Pellin of Boardman, Ohio, Matt (Kristin) Ridel of Maumee, Ohio, and Bob (Sarah) Ridel of Youngstown; and seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Abigail, Joshua, Jordan, Emma, Kaitlyn, and Eliza. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Marion Hill, Isabella Weden, and Eleanor Adams; and her son-in-law, Alfred Ridel. A memorial service will be held Friday at 5 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where family and friends will be received from 4 to 5 p.m., prior to the service. I have since copied photos of Biddle, Elinor, and Vivian Sprague from some on-line sources which will allow me to be able to compare these to see if I can identify who they are. I feel pretty sure that most of them are Sprague's, I just don't know who. Right now I'm reading Virginia Sprague's 1941 diary. I just read her comment where she said that her sister "Annie" is her only sister left, and that her her health was not too good. I've been looking for Annie and where she was buried but have not been sucessful, so reading her comment inspired me to do some more searching. Well, lo and behold, I found Annie Sprague Ross buried in the Wauchula Cemetery in Hardee County, Florida, USA. She is buried there with her husband George Washington Ross (Virginia Sprague's first husband, Henry Ross', older brother), their son Charles Albert Ross, and their daughter Rosali! e B. Ross. I've located a photographer here locally who will be able to redo the faded picture of Joseph Sprague and Plexona. If the cost is within range I will have that done and then figure out how I can post it and where. Thanks for your reply. I can really feel how much love and respect she has for her older brother. It seems to me, as far as the Joseph Sprague children are concerned, that he (W.E.) was the patriarch of the family. She writes that it was W.E. who retained the Sprague lands and continued the Joseph Sprague farming legacy. She also was very close with some of W.E.'s children, which implels me to ask, which one of W.E.'s children was your grandfather? Well, even though I am by namesake a McLaughlin (Warren S.
