Gang, I've had this lying on my desk for over a month and want to post it and get rid of it. old news to some, new news to others. I did research on the tax lists of old Grayson County and found this; 1817 listed as polls: Isom, Joseph, Hale, and Burwell Joseph and Hale did not own a horse ! This means that they had not saved enough money to buy one, their father did not give them one, and they were above 16 years old and still living in the county. 1824: Joseph still had no horse ! John didn't either ! 1828: Joseph STILL didn't have a horse. John DOES have a horse ! 1835: Joseph and John are MISSING. Everyone else is still there. They have gone to Tazewell between 1828 and when they show up in the Tazewell census in1830. Since John had a horse, I wonder if he let Joseph ride in his wagon ? Carolyn
