Hi all, James, I'll attempt to answer your questions. When I got this list from Rootsweb, they said they would notify the big 4 websites of our new list. I recall that Cyndi's List was one, but not the names of the other 3. To be honest I haven't had time to register it myself anywhere else. We went from 11 original subscribers to now over 35. The Spence list hosted by Barbara deals mainly with the Somerset Co. MD Spence family of David Spence of Old Somerset, and back overseas. We formed this group because we haven't gotton back far enough to know if we are in that Spence line or not. Maybe someday, we can connect. I of course subscribe to Barbara's list and many others do also. I browse her messages for anything on our Spences, but don't often see anything dealing with Virginia or the Southwest Virginia area, where our Spences took to the mountains and got lost ! If I do see anything, I forward it to this list. Your line has a beginning point in VA as Moses was supposedly born in VA before he went to GA. Please anyone, if you want to register this list, go ahead and let me know the URL and I'll get it registered. I think we have grown pretty good so far. I don't know where people find us, but they do. I periodically check the net for new people and find them also. Barbara's list has been going for over 3 years now, so there are lots of posts. I did a search on Burwell and only got 3 hits. 2 of those is how I found Mary Anne ! I don't remember if I did a Bluford search on their archives. Luanne and Sara found me on GenForum. I think Alana found me on the Roots index ? Jim Carver placed a query in the Carroll Co. VA Historical Society's newsletter and I answered. So we get connected. I've got my name in so many places on the net, it's hard not to stumble across me. Anyway, Rootsweb is setting up a GenForum type of board called GenConnect and Barbara will be hosting the Spence board on GenConnect. When she gets the board in place, we all need to post a brief query to that board, and then we will have all the Spence queries consolidated in one place. At least we are fortunate to know that we belong to either Burwell or the Bluford line. There are some of us that are close to the areas, but can't quite seem to make the connection yet. James, I belong to your Killian list ! Did you find me listed ? <g> I think that we can fulfill your Spence needs here on this list, and if I see anything that we all need to see on Barbara's list, I forward it to us all. One of our first subscribers joined our list looking for a Spence, that I recognized the name Lazarus as belonging to Barbara's line, so I sent her there.... She's happy ! Sorry, rambled on too long, but hoping I answered James questions and informed others who didn't know about Barbara's list. Carolyn
