Mother still unknown. Burwell is listed in 1783 tax records with John as an adult male in the household of John Spence. Burwell was not responsible for the tax as the father is responsible party in the household. John Spence is that responsible party. Also John is listed in the 1782 census with 8 whites and 8 blacks in the household. So, wife being one and Burwell being one, plus John =3.
