James & Jane (Bluford) Spence .....grandson: William Spence (hus. of Jane Tuttle) (s/o: William & Mary (Anderson) Spence) Purchased 90 acres of land on the Bluestone River on 25 Sept 1836 from James & Nancy McGranahan. ( Tazewell Co., VA.) ....I would like to say that this William Spence did well while he was in Tazewell Co., VA. and he may have ...for a while anyway....but times got hard, William owned a debt of $76 to Tiffany Heigginbottom and couldn't pay. The court appointed E. G. Harman as Trustee for Tiffany and William Spence's 90 acres of land on the Bluestone River was sold to John Haven on 16 Oct 1847 to pay for the dept owed. --------------- thus the obvious question...what happened to William Spence ??? dah...don't know yet...there were no additional Land Deed Records in Tazewell Co., VA. for William. Take note...the importance of Property Deed Records ...we need 'em folks...for all our Spence ancestors ...the tell more than you might realize!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim James F.
