    1. Grundy, VA
    2. Cousins, I was looking through the Buchanan Co. VA website and found the following: County was established 1858 from Tazewell and Russell. A courthouse was planned on the lands of John Ratliff and Thomas Gillespie, described as: Slate Creek on branch of the Lavica Fork of the Sandy River to be called Grundy. So if you want to look at your atlas, you'll see the city of Grundy. This same description is on the Deeds for land that John Spence purchased beginning in 1849, although I'm not sure if the Lavica Fork and the Louisa Fork are the same location. I've seen it spelled Lovica also. Chow, Carolyn
