I descend from the Spences of south GA. My ancestors in the Huxford volumes are in the advance subscribers lists in the back of Vol. 6 & 7. My ancestor John M. Spence is in Vol. 6 & Joshua in vol.5. Just looking at Vol. 5 & memory, Joshua Spence b.1800 is said to be a son of Moses & grandson of Tharp. I generally accept Tharp & exclude Moses from my lineage. There is an age contradiction from another book. Tharp is called Buford Thorpe Spence I believe & the line goes way back in VA. I can find my xerox of the Spence pages from the other book, but from your mention of Moses, I figure you are as knowledgeable as me or more so.
