My Ruth Ann Smith and children left Talladega, Ala (I think) (altho George Washington Smith was born Ga, who was head of family, and died about 1871 Ala) after she became a widow and came to Texas to be near her sister and husband, the Claunch family. They came by ship, landing in Indianola just ahead of a big storm, and had to rush inland as quickly as they could. So they also came from other State ports but I have no idea where. Perhaps Mobile,Ala.??? For what its worth.
