1. Re: Groups of families migrating together
2. Jaime: I have wondered the same thing, because the situation exists for several branches of my family. Someone who wants to write a book should pursue this! I would think that there would be quite a few land transactions in the place the group of families left. They would need to sell their lands and then move, wouldn't you think? Then they would need supplies, i.e., wagons, food, etc. That would be quite a bit of activity if ten or more families were involved. Does anyone know of diaries that people making such moves kept? I found one from a lady who moved from Perry County, AL to Marion, LA. This will take you to it: Click here: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/perry/miscel/tompkins.txt My ancestors moved from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia into Alabama. I guess they followed the Great Wagon Road and the Federal Road. Some of their kin went on further into Louisiana and Texas; they went South to the Gulf Coast eventually. I would love to know their stories! Kathryn
