I am hoping Charles or someone on the list can answer a question for me. In Tennessee there are a number of cases of Indians including a number of Renfro's who are listed as having removed themselves from the Indian rolls. I have just always assumed this was an attempt to avoid being forced to move by the goverment. Does anyone know if my guess is correct? As it turned out my Mark Renfroe left TN (probably Wayne County) in 1837 and came to old Lawrence County AR. So it appears they still left either voluntarily or involuntarily. Would appreciate any info on people choosing to be removed from the rolls. I know that some of Mary's Turney family came from TN to AR about the same time.
